Afro-Sekita 2.0: A Pivotal Moment in Our Kizomba Journey
March 2024 marked a significant chapter in our journey as Kizomba artists with our participation in Afro-Sekita 2.0, an exceptional festival organized by Nandy Pawar in Bengaluru. This event was particularly special as it was the first time we were officially invited to showcase our skills and expertise as Kizomba artists.
One of the key highlights of the festival was our workshop, “Foundations, Lead & Follow Technique.” Designed specifically for beginners, the session focused on the fundamental principles that form the backbone of Kizomba. It explored essential techniques such as the art of leading and following, connecting partners, and the importance of movement fluidity. Our aim was to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Kizomba’s foundations while fostering their confidence and passion for the dance.
The experience of sharing our knowledge with an enthusiastic group of participants was incredibly rewarding. It allowed us not only to impart technical skills but also to inspire a deeper appreciation for the elegance and intimacy of Kizomba. Being a part of Afro-Sekita 2.0 also strengthened our connection with the vibrant Kizomba community and reaffirmed our commitment to promoting this beautiful dance form.
Afro-Sekita 2.0 was more than just an event; it was a milestone that celebrated our growth as artists and paved the way for future opportunities. We are deeply grateful for the platform it provided to share our passion and expertise.
